Minga, Exploring Utopia is an exploration of “utopia” by 21 Arts Collaboratory partners within their contexts. Launched at the Sao Paulo Bienial in November 2014 with a manifesto, Minga will generate wide-ranging perspectives about utopia in 2015. This is the first time so many AC partners will work together on a common project. Minga participants will follow a working methodology designed to facilitate collaborative processes. It also aims to test how the partners can work together to shape the future of Arts Collaboratory. Some partners have selected artists to work with them on Minga, others will directly participate. Workshops and a common performance are being organised for the Senegal Assembly and the following processes and outputs are being developed:
- A News Agency, to provide information about each partner’s project
- An Online Map of Utopias
- A Fiction Film
- A Digital newspaper/publication.
“Some of the common motivations are the articulation between art, politics, and society, recovering a creative-imaginative potency as a transformative agent of the social reality that each of us experiment in each locality.” “The conformation of a network of creative organisations is an opportunity to broaden our transformative possibilities, linking particular realities to better understand the common situation, enabling critical action upon it.”
